The Company
Tango Fusion Dance Company synthesizes latin dance, argentine tango, ballet, jazz, modern dance and theater by combining the styles and backgrounds of the company’s dancers. This mix creates fun, passionate, innovative movement that is both beautiful and evocative of Tango’s cultural origins.
Tango Fusion emerged in the dance world as a showcase created by Diane Lachtrupp. Tango Fusion went on to perform at the American Theater for Actors in Manhattan and received rave reviews from The New York Times. The Times reported, " Tango Fusion must be the happiest celebration of that dance to arrive in the city for a very long time...production values, music and imaginative staging were first rate." Tango Fusion's success continued to grow when it was invited to perform in New York City at the Town Hall Tango Fest and the Fifth Annual Tango Congress in Argentina.
Originally from Galway (NY), Diane Lachtrupp sold her NYC studio and relocated to Saratoga Springs with her husband Johnny Martinez. “In New York we produced the Tango Fusion show and now Johnny and I have time to develop the Tango Fusion Dance Company,” Lachtrupp explains enthusiastically.
In spring of 2006 Tango Fusion Dance Company premiered in Saratoga Springs at the Saratoga County County Arts Council. The show incorporated both new and local professional talent and was a huge success, playing to sell-out crowds.
